BELLE POINT DANCE & MOVEMENT COMPANY
*Answers below are taken verbatim from entry.
We are a dance studio located in South West London and are celebrating our 10 year anniversary (May 20, 2020). Our studio is a second home to over 300 dancers, it is a safe place for these kids to learn, to connect, to explore and to follow their dreams. We are also the home of The Little Theatre Company, a program developed to help kids find their voices and pursue their performance goals. We employ 11 amazing teachers who continue to inspire and encourage their student even when our physical location is closed. Our teachers have started teaching their students from home over Zoom.
WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR STRATEGY THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC?
Our strategy has been to keep the passion and dance/performance outlet available to these during these hard time by offering our classes online. This platform is a second best option however nothing compares to in-person learning and training.
HOW HAS THE PANDEMIC & SHUTDOWN AFFECTED YOUR BUSINESS?
After the Ontario government announced the closure of the schools on March 12, 2020, we decided to close out studio to help stop the spread of the virus. This closure not only meant that the kids would longer get their weekly/daily classes, but it also meant that all of end of season events would be cancelled. Our senior Little Theatre Company members were just about to move their production of the Lion King to the McManus Stage at Grand Theatre. This show has not been cancelled all tickets have been refunded. Our 10-Year Gala was planned to take place at The Aeolian on Wednesday, May 6, it was to be a celebration of 10 wonderful year in business and a place for our Dance Team to showcase their 20 minute concept. choreography piece they worked so hard to prepare. This event has since been cancelled and all tickets refunded. Our Spring session classes, that offer to Senior citizens, adult dancers, parent and tot classes was set to start on Saturday, March 21, 2020. This session has since been cancelled and class fees refunded. Our end-of-season recital for all of our recreational dancers (300+ kids) is planned for Saturday, June 13 (3 shows in 1 day) and is planned to take place at WestMinister HS, this event will be cancelled and all tickets refunded in the coming days. Our summer session is dance classes, our Summer camps and our Summer Dance Intensives are planned to take place June, July and August are still planned however with the current government restrictions we cannot foresee how these programs will safely run. We have not taken 1 registration, or $1 since our closure on March 12 and are potentially looking at having to stay closed for the next few months as well. Our monthly rent is still due every month for our 8,000 sq.ft facility, our landlord is not considering taking part in government assistance programs and we looking at closing if we can't find a break.
