BUSINESS BACKGROUND

We are a small, owner owned and operated bakery here in London, Ontario. We pride ourselves on using only Canadian grown grains in our naturally fermented sourdough loaves and rustic, hand made pastries. The bread is easily digestible and our pastries are made with 100% butter, Harmony Organics dairy, organic cane sugar and free-range eggs. We focus on milling our own whole grains not only because of the outstanding flavour that comes with using the “whole grain” but also because of the wider variety of health benefits that come along with them. Our long term goal is to be able to open a cozy bakery cafe, so that we can show all of London what we have to offer!

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR STRATEGY THROUGHOUT THE PANDEMIC?

Our retail location has been closed to the public since the middle of March in order to flatten the curve of COVID-19. Shortly after, we opened an online shop through the POS system we use, called Square. Our online shop opens up every Sunday morning at 9:00am, where customers can browse our weekly menu that is available for delivery the following Friday. We offer free delivery on orders over $30 within London! We have thankfully been able to keep on our previous staff members and have also recruited some socially distancing friends to help with our deliveries.

HOW HAS THE PANDEMIC & SHUTDOWN AFFECTED YOUR BUSINESS?

This pandemic has made it extremely hard for us to find required ingredients needed for us to continue our production including yeast, butter, beer and local produce. We have also attended Farmer’s Markets every season since the beginning of the bakery, and now we are not sure if it will be safe for us to attend. We have met many of our loyal customers through local markets.
